Painting exhibition by Andreas Georgiadis, based on the novel by L. Durrell

The HELLENIC CENTRE presents an exhibition by Greek artist Andreas Georgiadis entitled “The Alexandria Quartet” based on the novel by Lawrence Durrell. The exhibition was presented for first time in Bibliotheca Alexandrina, last October, and was part of the celebrations to mark the 12th anniversary of the Opening of the Library, and was organised jointly with the Greek Consulate in Alexandria under the supervision of the General Consul of Greece in Alexandria. The inclusion of this exhibition in the schedule of events of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina was a major distinction for the Greek artist. After Alexandria, the exhibition presented in Cairo, in the mamlook Palace AMIR TAZ, under the auspices of Egyptian Ministry of Culture. Third station was Greece, in IANOS ART GALLERY, under the auspices of British Council and Egyptian Cultural Centre. Through the 26 works in this group, all ink on paper, A. Georgiadis creates a fragile poetic environment, dotted with multiple readings, full of interchanges between what is real and what is imaginary.

“Guess who’s coming for dinner”

Group exhibition, Genesis Gallery, Athens 

“Le menu du jour Au Rocher de Cancale". In April 6, 1843 Honoré De Balzac had a dinner with Victor Hugo and Theofile Gaultier. Andreas Georgiadis takes advantage of this real fact and creates an imaginary menu of the day.

IANOS Art Gallery presents an exhibition by Greek artist Andreas Georgiadis entitled “The Alexandria Quartet” based on the novel by Lawrence Durrell under the auspices of British Council and Egyptian Cultural Centre. The exhibition was presented for first time in Bibliotheca Alexandrina, last October. After Alexandria, the exhibition presented in Cairo, in the Palace AMIR TAZ, under the auspices of Egyptian Ministry of Culture. Through the 26 works in this group, all ink on paper, A. The Egyptian Ministry of Culture presents an exhibition by Greek artist Andreas Georgiadis entitled “The Alexandria Quartet” based on the novel by Lawrence Durrell. The exhibition was presented for first time in Bibliotheca Alexandrina, last October. After the opening ceremony was presented the Sufi Chanting Ensemble “Al Mawlaweya Al Masreya”

The Governor of Alexandria honors Andreas Georgiadis with the Golden Key of the City

Alexandria’s governor Dr Tarek al-Mahdi honored greek painter Andreas Georgiadis, with the Golden Alexandria key, during the opening ceremony of his painting exhibition, presented in Bibliotheca Alexandrina based on the novel by Lawrence Durrell.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina presents an exhibition by artist Andreas Georgiadis entitled “The Alexandria Quartet” based on the novel by Lawrence Durrell. The exhibition is part of the celebrations to mark the 12th anniversary of the Opening of the Library, and is organised jointly with the Greek Consulate in Alexandria under the supervision of the General Consul of Greece in Alexandria, Mr. Christos Capodistrias. The inclusion of this exhibition in the schedule of events of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is a major distinction for the Greek artist. Andreas Georgiadis, engrossed by Alexandria’s unique atmosphere and by the outstanding novel / outpouring by the British author, creates a visual arts account of moments, impressions and reminiscences, combining the real with the imaginary, the past with the presence, the literal with the metaphorical.
